Bay Area Youth Singers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, established in the fall of 2007 by the Bay Area Chorus.

Purpose:  to provide an opportunity for children in grades 3 through 9 to develop their singing voice,

learn to read music, develop poise and self-discipline, and develop a love and

appreciation of singing great choral literature. This is accomplished through weekly rehearsals and various performing opportunities throughout the year. 

Membership is open to children in grade 3 through 9 by audition.  All economic and ethnic backgrounds are welcome.  The organization has no affiliation with a church, school district, or other organization. 

The Bay Area Chorus is it’s “parent” organization.

Repertoire is selected by the artistic director, and includes classic secular and sacred choral works from all historical periods, folk songs, international music, patriotic to pop styles, and Broadway musical selections.  Music is performed by memory. 

Performances include two formal concerts and from four to six community performances each year.  Members of the Bay Area Youth Singers have the opportunity to participate in a Summer Music Camp co-sponsored by the Bay Area Chorus, Bay Area Youth Singers, and University Baptist Church. Singers will re-audition in May for membership in the Youth Singers the following fall and spring terms. A few tuition scholarships are available.  Application should be made at the time of the audition along with a letter of recommendation from the school music teacher. 

Funding of BAYS comes from tuition payments, ticket sales, grants, donations, and a fund raising activity by the members and parents.
